Professional background

Maarten Gish has worked professionally in the music industry since 2009. His experience spans international bookings, touring, music management, artist development, producer and songwriter management, repertoire, releases, publishing and music rights.

His career began in the international electronic music and live market and later developed into a broader role across pop, dance and the Benelux music industry. Over the years, he has worked on artist careers, international tours and commercially successful music projects involving established artists, producers and songwriters.

The projects connected to his work include Grammy-nominated releases, numerous gold and platinum certifications, recordings generating billions of streams worldwide and major international radio success.

International bookings and touring

Maarten began his career in electronic music, working on bookings and the international development of DJs and producers including Alvaro, Afro Bros, Dirtcaps and Joey Dale.

His experience included tours and performances across Europe, Asia and the United States, as well as recurring bookings and artist residencies in Ibiza.

During this period, he worked across different international markets and gained experience in the development of live careers, touring strategies and long-term artist positioning outside the Netherlands.

Music management and international projects

Maarten later moved further into music management, working closely with producers and songwriters including Bas van Daalen, Jasper Helderman, Jens van der Meij and Rowan Smeets.

He has been directly involved in the development of their careers, music and projects, working across repertoire, project development, releases and long-term positioning.

This work has included music projects for internationally established artists including Major Lazer, J Balvin, RAYE, Ellie Goulding, David Guetta and Tiësto.

The recordings and catalogues connected to this work include Grammy-nominated projects, numerous gold and platinum certifications and music that has generated billions of streams worldwide.

Grammy-nominated projects

Selected international projects connected to this period include work released as part of Major Lazer’s Music Is the Weapon (Reloaded) and J Balvin’s JOSE.

Both albums received Grammy nominations in 2022. Music Is the Weapon (Reloaded) was nominated for Best Dance/Electronic Album, while JOSE was nominated for Best Música Urbana Album.

These projects formed part of a wider body of international pop and electronic music involving producers and songwriters Maarten worked with during this period.

Ellie Goulding, Diplo and Swae Lee

One of the international records connected to this work was Close to Me by Ellie Goulding, Diplo and Swae Lee.

The record became a major international streaming and radio success and reached number one on Billboard’s Adult Pop Songs airplay chart in the United States.

The release formed part of the international writing and production work involving producers represented and developed during this stage of Maarten’s career.

Benelux music projects

Maarten has also worked on music projects involving leading artists from the Netherlands and the wider Benelux market, including Froukje, Kris Kross Amsterdam, FLEMMING, Miss Montreal and SERA.

His work involving Froukje came through his work with producer and songwriter Jens van der Meij and included involvement in the music surrounding her debut album.

Across these and other projects, Maarten has worked on the development of artists, producers and songwriters, as well as repertoire, releases and long-term careers.

Collaboration with Rowan Smeets

In recent years, Maarten has worked closely with producer and songwriter Rowan Smeets on artist development, songwriting, international dance music, releases and catalogue development.

Their work includes developing artists, writers and producers from the Benelux, creating and pitching music for international opportunities and building long-term structures around publishing, labels, distribution and music rights.

Maarten and Rowan also co-founded The Music Hub, an independent music company focused on management, artist and writer development, publishing, labels, distribution, repertoire and catalogue development.
